Laura Vandervoort’s Work Out Plan
What does she usually do in order to stay fit? Here’s what the actress share din one of her interviews: “In terms of working out, I just try to do something physical every day. I mix it up, I do spinning, hot Yoga. I just got out of a Pilates Plus class right now, which is great. It’s on a reformer and it’s challenging and it sort of shocks your body into doing something different and moving in a different way, using your own resistance. To get in shape for Elena, I worked out with a trainer and we used a lot of the resistance bands and not weights, and did a lot of cardiovascular, getting your heart rate up and then down. Hiking, that sort of thing. This season, I wanted to be a little more of a fighting machine.”
For your information, Laura is also a martial arts enthusiast that’s why she said in a separate interview that she can very much relate to her character Elena on ‘Bitten’. According to her, “I grew up doing martial arts. So Elena feels like the other part of me. I relate to so much about her. Obviously, not the werewolf part, but the fact that she can take care of herself physically. And I think it was great that the writers wrote in some extra hand-to-hand combat scenes. Especially in the finale – we have this epic fight that I just had a great time doing. And we had great stunt coordinators that help us to incorporate the animalistic side to the fighting.
It wasn’t a part of the audition, but I think it definitely benefits the character… the fact that most of the actors on the show are physically able to do the fight scene sequences.”
Laura Vandervoort’s Diet
For Laura’s diet, she shared, “For me, it’s just trying to get protein, because I don’t really eat meat. So, it’s the almond butters and protein powders, lot of fruits and vegetables. I try to almost do a Paleo diet, but I’m not very good at sticking to it. I eat several little meals a day, instead of three big ones, while I’m working, because you want to not feel too heavy, and drinking lots of water.”
Laura also said in a separate interview,“I find it hard to always stay on track and get my vegetables and protein in. I decided to freeze several zip bags full of kale, half a banana and blueberries for a smoothie each morning. This makes it easier for me to simply throw the ingredients in the blender with my protein powder. I also am a huge fan of Greek yogurt–it’s another great way to get your protein. It fills me up and gives me long-lasting fuel until lunch. Add a cup of coffee and almond milk and I’m ready to go!”
